AREAS OF PRACTICE

Madelynn Chavez has experience in personal injury law more specifically representing clients who have suffered from sexaul assualt, sexual harassment, and domestic violence in civil court. Madelynn has done policy work in New Mexico to put together a Victims Rights Package that would extend the statute of limitations for adult survivors of childhood sex abuse. Madelynn is a certified mediator and a passionate advocate for survivors rights.

APPROACH

Madelynn approaches each client she meets with a sense of understanding, perspective, and motivation to help them in any way she can. Madelynn is trauma informed and always eager to learn more about the law and the ways she can collaborate with her team to produce the best results for clients.

EXPERIENCE

Madelynn has participated in extensive legal research and writing for New Orleans civil attorney David Moyer. She has also served as a law clerk for Weems Hazen Law which focuses on supporting victims of violence in civil court. Here she participated in client meetings, gathered evidence, prepared clients for depositions and researched policy relating to sexual assault laws in New Mexico (her hometown).

 

Madelynn is currently participating in the Children's Rights Clinic program during her third year at law school where she is gaining practical experience meeting with clients, appearing in court, and navigating the nuances of child welfare rights in Louisiana.

PASSION

Madelynn's biggest passion is taking the law and breaking it down so that clients know all rights and avenues available to them. Madelynn has worked with many Spanish speaking clients and others from all different backgrounds. Madelynn believes that the law should treat everyone equal no matter their race, gender, or socio-economic classification. Madelynn is also very passionate about alternative methods of conflict resolution so that parties can reach their goals and focus on furthering their personal interests.

PERSONAL TOUCH

Madelynn is an absolute animal lover and when she's not at work or school she is either running, playing tennis, or playing with her two puppies named Basil and Winnie!
